There are only two weeks to go to the start of the ever-popular Largs summer comedy theatre season.

Now, in its 22nd successive and successful year, Largs Players transform the Brisbane Centre in Bath Street, next to the Green Shutters restaurant, into a little festival theatre.

For the first time, starting on Thursday, July 16, the summer one act comedies will run back to back on Thursday and Friday evenings for five weeks.

Players’ president Drew Cochrane who has been part of the summer season since it began in the early 90s said: “When we started it there were shows on Barrfields Theatre every weekend so we had a Tuesday slot, but, most of the time, nowadays we are the only show in town, so have decided to do a Friday performance for the weekend feeling.

“And this summer we have recruited some of the young stars of the Largs academy ‘Phantom of the Opera’ show.” The one act comedies are being directed by Linda McMurray and Kevin Jannetts who has produced the Largs pantos in recent years.

Both have a mix of youth and ‘veteran’ actors.

Tickets, at £7, are only sold at the door on the nights of the show so look out for more information in the paper
