A serious incident in Largs on Sunday resulted in armed police being deployed before a 22 year old man was arrested.
The shock events unfolded at around 4pm, as police officers responded to reports of an disturbance in Gogo Street.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Upon attending, officers were confronted by a man who was allegedly carrying a large bladed weapon.
"A police vehicle was damaged and one officer sustained a minor injury. CS spray was deployed and under authorisation of the Local Policing Commander for Ayrshire Division, Chief Superintendent Gillian MacDonald, armed response officers attended the incident. "A 22 year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. The injured officer has been taken to Inverclyde Hospital to receive treatment and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
The police have said that no members of the public were injured during the incident and thank those who contacted them in relation to the disturbance.
