Letter writer John Turcan has pointed out that while he welcomes recharging areas for scooters in Largs, access throughout the town centre is far from straight forward.
John wrote: "I was pleased to note in last week’s Largs News that provision has been made for parking and recharging mobility scooters on the ground floor of the new Day Care and Resource Centre in Lade Street.
At first glance such scooters offer a promising level of independence for those in need. I would like to make one suggestion for all who appear in the photograph.
Those running or responsible for this new development would benefit from gaining an appreciation of some of the practical difficulties to be expected by actually using a scooter for a short trip to the high street and ferry terminal.
I would be happy to make my wife’s scooter available for a short outing from the centre so long as I could follow with my camera to record any problems encountered on the way."
