The indicator sign, which was recently refurbished at Douglas Park in Largs, has been damaged by vandals.
Ian Dalgleish posted a photo of the blank indicator post on the Largs News Facebook page.
NAC Cabinet member, Councillor Tony Gurney, said: “The direction indicator located at Douglas Park was targeted by mindless vandals within a matter of weeks of being refurbished. Our Streetscene Team took swift action and removed the indicator last week to safeguard it from further attacks.
“The perspex cover was completely destroyed, with slight damage to the indicator itself. However, the indicator is now being safely stored until we can have it restored and installed again.
“It is very disappointing that this type of vandalism occurs, damaging our outdoor assets for public use and enjoyment.
“We would ask anyone who has any information regarding the vandalism to contact the police in the first instance.” Largs Community Council chairman Douglas Blair said: “I reported it last Friday and NAC have take it away for repair. So well done to NAC street scene so it is safe. Not sure if the vandals were after the metal indicator as a trophy.” Martin Bannatyne added on Facebook: “I have never understood mindless vandalism people spoiling their own environment
