A second helicopter rescue took place on the Largs hills last week after a cyclist was injured on the old back road to Greenock.
A man believed to be in his 50s suffered a head injury, and was airlifted to hospital on Thursday after taking a fall from his bike on the Old Largs Road.
The Scottish Ambulance Service reported that they were called just before 9am, and their local crew requested a helicopter which was used to transport the casualty to hospital in Glasgow.
The accident happened on the border of Inverclyde and North Ayrshire, on a popular route with cyclists.
Police closed the road while they carried out their own investigations.
Earlier last week, another helicopter rescue took place at the ‘Quad Rocks’ in Largs after a poignant family gathering to scatter a loved one’s ashes on the hills turned into an emergency when a Largs woman fell over a pothole.
