It was a sunshine Sunday, and even a glorious sunset on Saturday, for the Fairlie Gala as it once again pulled out all the stops for a fun and fantastic weekend of activities.

Live music, a mini-Olympics, a 1940s tearoom and the Great Fairlie Bake Off were just some of the highlights throughout both days.

The Gala Prince Luca De Jong, and Princess Alice Harrison led the parade.

As ever, there was a pre-Gala event on Friday evening at the Village Hall with children’s dressing up parties, before the parade got underway on Saturday at 2pm at Fairlie Primary School.

For the youngest visitors, there were tea cups, bouncy castles and The McDougalls, fresh from their summer tour, performed two mini theatre shows.

For the older children the usual inflatables, football and laser quest provided some all out action.

Saturday evening included acoustic entertainment followed by Crisis who rocked well into the evening.

Cllr Alan Hill who is also a member of the organising committee commented, “Fairlie Gala is a fantastic community event and continues to go from strength to strength. We launched a few new things this year including our Fabulous Forties tea tent serving cream teas with music from that era. Sunday saw the first ever Great Fairlie Bake Off.” “The event has been organised by a great bunch of volunteers who do all of this entirely in their own free time. We are assisted every year by an even larger group of volunteers who help erect tents, move tables and chairs etc and all of the other things that need to be done to pull the event together on the day.” Full photo gallery in this week's Largs News
