Singer songwriter Graham Lyle gave a special guest performance in Largs over New Year.

The pop star, who had hits in the 70s with McGuinness Flint and with fellow Largs musician Benny Gallagher, joined the band at Halkshill Bowling Club on Sunday night for 'The Oldest Swingers In Town' dance.

In his set, backed by the five-piece band, and local singer Drew Galt he sang some classic Gallagher and Lyle hits such as 'Forever Young' and 'When I'm Dead And Gone' which is the name of the new world premiere musical to be staged at Barrfields Pavilion Theatre in April.

The band, at Halkshill, was composed of professional musicians who have toured the world with top groups. They featured Richard Simmonds (keyboard), Chris Belshaw (bass), Andy Geris (lead guitar), David Briggs (guitar and vocals) and Largs man Tommy O'Donnell on drums.  Drew Galt joined in, performing rock and blues songs.

The songs of Gallagher and Lyle feature in the musical 'When I'm Dead And Gone' which has been co-written by Largs woman Maggie Kinloch and River City scriptwriter Viv Adam. It will be staged by Largs Players from April 20 to 23 with tickets already on sale at www.ticketsource (Barrfields Theatre) or at Vikingar!
