The third Millport Classic Car show was a spectacular sight on the Garrison grounds in the beautiful sunshine, and attracted many visitors.

A total of 62 vintage vehicles lined up on the green grass providing an exhilarating mix of colours and styles to wow all the enthusiasts who attended.

There was a great variety of classic cars in attendance including MG Midgets, Minis, Fiats, Morgans, Bentleys, Ferraris and BMWs.

Other notable entries included a 1959 London Hackey cab - Beardmore Par MK7, and a 1985 Rolls Royce Silver Sprint.

There was a tombola at the event which raised £275 for the event and children were able to get photos of themselves with three mascots who attended - a minion, Sponge Bob and Pooh Bear.

The organisers arranged for free refreshments, and there was also an RNLI stall, and Andrea's Gift Stall,

The public enjoyed perusing all the fantastic cars and were able to vote for the best car in show.

The winner was a shining black 1946 Ford Convertible owned by Billy Marshall from Ralston. Billy had actually bought the car in Ohio and it does 28 miles to the gallon!

The Cumbrae Queen, Olivia Hamilton, in one of her last duties as Cumbrae Queen, presented Billy with the winner's rosette and prize - a night's stay at the Royal George Hotel including dinner, and bed and breakfast.

Island correspondent Mary Currie stated: "It was a great day and all the cars did a parade to the pier and back at the finish. Congratulations to the organisers and they would like to thank all the owners of the cars, and classic car clubs who attended, and the large crowd of spectators. Also a big thank you to everyone who supplied Tombola prizes. There was a fabulous atmosphere on the island that day."

Thanks to Karen Brodie for the photos.
