Millport Golf Club enjoyed some exceptional play during difficult weather in recent competitions.

Junior Championship winner Niall Gallacher and runner up, John Jack. Niall won their nailbiting final 2 and 1.

And new Club Champion, Craig Pirie, being presented with the trophy by Alistair Forsyth. Craig narrowly beat Gordon Lundie, with both players managing to produce exceptional golf in really testing conditions.

The course measures just short of 6000 yards, has a par of 68 with SSS of 69 (Ladies par is 72 with a yardage of 5,228) and demands a full repertoire of shot making - there are several blind shots to test golfers skills. Out of bounds comes into play in the first seven holes, and at the 2nd out of bounds faces you right and left.

And if you thought the crowd was a bit noisier than usual at the US Masters earlier this year then look at the line up in this photograph! Yes Millport Golf Club was well represented at this year's event. As well as having a fantastic time at The Masters the boys had a great time playing golf at Kiawah Island.

* The club was formed in 1888 and at the time was known as The Cumbrae Golf Club. This was later changed to avoid confusion with Comrie Golf Club in Perthshire. In 1913 the well-known golf course architect, James Braid, was invited to lay out the course "to suit the modern game".

In 2004, three times Open Champion Nick Faldo played an exhibition match and gave a golf clinic, and the clubhouse celebrated its centenary in 2009.
