New solar seagull proof bins arrived in Largs on Thursday morning to address the litter problem.
The new 'Big Belly' smart bins will revolutionise the environment on Largs seafront.
The bins are much needed after residents voiced concerns on Tuesday evening about overspilling bins on the seafront.
The new bins have improved capacity, compress the waste, and alerts the council to come and empty the bin when full.
Jane Wilson of the Please Don't Feed the Seagulls campaign in Largs posted a message on the campaign facebook page on Thursday morning: "Solar compacting seagull proof bins going out right now!! 4 going out - it's a start!"
On the Largs News Facebook page, Johanne Baker commented: "They have them in Anstruther...very effective!"
Valerie Hill added: "It is about time, on Wednesday walking along the prom was a disgrace to see debris everywhere."
Largs Community Council Environment's sub-group has also welcomed the move.
