Congratulations Abby Kane!
The Largs teen swim sensation had a brilliant day in Rio on Saturday, accomplishing a silver medal and set a Paralympics record in qualifying.
It was the day of reckoning for the 13 year old swimmer in her specialist 100m back crawl, and Abby showed she had nerves of steel against the best in the world as she set a paralympics record in the qualifying heats on Saturday afternoon.
Abby recorded a 1:09:09 swim in the qualifying heat to set a Paralympics record, and put her in a great position to win a medal for the Saturday evening finals.
And it was primetime television viewing as Channel Four provided a preview to the swim and referred to Abby's amazing potential at such a young age.
Abby finished in silver position after recording a swim of 1:09:30, behind Anna Stetsenko of Ukraine in gold position with 1:08:30
Speaking after her swim, Abby said: "I am speechless - I am so happy. I didn't expect to come to Rio at all. It has been a great experience."
Proud coach Sharon McIntyre said: "A fantastic result, couldn't have asked for better."
Congratulations to Abby from all at the Largs and Millport Weekly News.
