Largs teen Silver medal star Abby Kane received glowing praise from none other than Prime Minister Theresa May this week.

The 13 year old was amazed to receive the letter when she arrived in London for the recent British swimming awards.

The Prime Minister said: "I wanted to congratulate you personally on your fantastic silver medal in the Women's 100m backstroke S13 at Rio 2016.

"It is a remarkable achievement to compete at the Paralympic games at 13 years old and as the youngest member of Team GB.

"To go and win a Silver medal is simply incredible and I am sure that your friends and family are very proud of you."

The P.M stated in the letter that Abby's success contributed to Rio De Janeiro becoming Great Britain's most successful Paralympic Games in almost thirty years, with medals won across more sports than London 2012.

The letter from 10 Downing Street continued; "Your contribution to this historic achievement is something of which you should be hugely proud.

"The achievements of Paralympics GB have made the whole country proud and have kept the nation enthralled. I hope this proves to be the platform for continued success and would like to wish you all the very best for the future."

Abby, who was recently awarded the Judges Recognition Award at the North Ayrshire Sports Awards, is also guest of honour at the Largs Yuletide Celebrations.

The silver medalist will be making a celebratory open top bus ride through town as part of the yuletide evening parade, which will be taking place on Thursday 1st December.
