For the first time ever, on the weekends of 4th and 5th plus 11th and 12th February, Kelburn Castle will open its doors for a public event.
‘The Frozen Castle', a specially created magical fairy-tale tour around their 800 year old castle, will be staged between 11am and 5pm during the weekends of the half term school holiday.
On these four special days, the story unveils the evil ice queen who has cast a spell over Kelburn's famous castle to keep it and its inhabitants frozen, unable to welcome the spring season.
An assortment of fairy tale princesses and characters need to be woken from their winter slumbers so they can help you to break the spell.
This 25 minute guided walk through of the oldest section of the castle also features rooms never seen before by the public.
General Manager, Jared Bowers, said: “It’s a fairy-tale story created by our team at Kelburn. Along with live actors, there will also be special lighting and effects to bring this enchanted event to life.”
Jared added: “The event starts with a guided outdoor walk from the visitor centre to the castle, so please dress appropriately for being outside. Unfortunately, due to the physical nature of this event, disabled access isn't available and it is not suitable for prams or small children under five years of age.”
In another first, Kelburn is issuing time slot specific tickets, which are available in advance at www.kelburnestate.com/events/frozencastle
Please note the Secret Forest and the Adventure Course are both closed during the winter.
