Summer Playhouse
Cumbrae Dramatic Club will be performing their first summer playhouse production on Friday June 9 at 7.30pm in the D.A Hall. Variety is the theme this year with a one act play, and a duology making up thi season's shows. Both plays are penned by David Tristram. The two are sure to delight audiences and shouldn't be missed. Both comedies are hilarious.
The doors will be open at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door for £5 for adults and £3 for children. There will be a raffle, juice and crisps available to buy at the weekend. All welcome.
Finding Your Feet
The FYF Millport Fun'raiser is back and it's bigger and better than ever before, thanks to sponsorship from Children's Aid Scotland.
There's a twist to the family cycle round the island, with the addition of a treasure hunt, then an even larger selection of kids' activities and entertainment than in previous years.
The inflatable village will be back, including Gladiators, Water Walkers, Laser Quest and an Assault Course as well as magic shows, a party by kids' favourite entertainer Kidnetick, balloon twisting workshops, face painting, and dozens of sideshows and games.
It all takes place on Sunday June 11 with the cycle and treasure hunt starting at 11am, and the fun day at the Garrison from 12 noon till 3pm.
The charity supports families affected by amputation or limb difference, through a range of sporting initiatives and social inclusion projects.
Comedy festival
The Cumbrae Comedy festival returns for a second year on Friday July 21 and Saturday July 22 in the D.A Hall with Big Gary Little, Julia Sutherland, Phil Differ and Des McLean. Children's comedy to be announced, and other venues to be confirmed. Pint Size Productions return to the Newton on Friday July 21 for 'Scrubbers'.
School Fayre
Cumbrae Primary is holding a school fayre in the DA Hall on Saturday from 1am-4pm. All funds raised will be used to purchase educational materials for the school.
Cathedral
On Sunday June 25 at 3pm, the Telemann Ensemble is performing a 40th anniversary concert at the Cathedral of the Isles. This Ensemble has given out more concerts in the island cathedral than any other. Led by its founder Leslie McLeod, the Ensemble is a unique group of musicians who play Baroque music. The Ensemble was named after Georg Philip Telemann (1681-1767) whose anniversary is also being marked this year. For the special occasion, a double length programme will be provided.
Millport Golf
It was a successful defence of the Firth of Clyde trophy at Blairmore and Strone with Gordon Lundie winning the individual with a 65 and John Jack junior scoring a gross 70.
Another great day at Millport Golf Club for the Ladies Tri Am Tournament. The winners on the better inward half were Brenda Conway, Fiona Armour (Renfrew) and Christine McConnell (Eastwood) who pipped Wilma Galloway (Colvend), Marion Cox (Drumpellier) and Jane Pirie (Millport) on the better inward half after both teams had tied on 63's. Exhibition
The Museum of the Cumbraes located within the Garrison in Millport is hosting a summer exhibition on Andrew Goldie, Millport’s own explorer.
Model Railway
The Millport Model Railway Club is based within the Garrison grounds and is open throughout the summer months from 1-4pm.
