Bus Chaos

On Thursday June 1, traffic came to a standstill on Main Street. The Primary School bus was having difficulty passing parked cars at the bus stop and one driver did not help matters as he continued to drive forward between the bus and a parked car. The bus driver eventually got out of his cab to look at how much room he had to negotiate in.

There have been times in the distant past when service buses have stated they would not enter the village because of parked cars. The then Community Council asked for double yellow lines but because there wasn’t an alternative car park this wasn’t allowed. Since then a car park was opened behind Main Street.

Community Council

In the May minutes of the community council they have a list of organisations that 'police' the area. From community wardens to a National Gang Unit who are connected to the Rail Network. Plain clothed Police and British Transport Police and Anti Social Behaviour teams. It is a sorry state of affairs that all these folk have to be deployed.

Good News

Congratulations to Ellen Baird of Inverkip who was crowned Scottish Champion in the under 12’s Advanced Kata Champion at a recent competition.

The Hub

A tender has been sent out for a Play Park at the area of the Inverkip Hub and landscaping in the immediate area of the centre.

85th Beavers

The Inverkip and Wemyss Bay Beavers had an outing to Ravenscraig Climbing Wall. This was enjoyed by all, adults included.

Trains Cancelled

The Wemyss Bay line was one of those affected by disruption to train services on Wednesday due to problems with overhead cables.

Planning Application

The planning application for demolishing the old Wemyss Bay Hotel and building retail units was the subject of discussion on social media. Many were sad that there wasn’t to be another Hotel. The proposal seems to be for 2 shop units one of which could be a café. The question of parking was address with 23 spaces being envisaged.
