The sun set for the last time on the old Victoria Hotel building on Wednesday evening before its roof was taken off the following day by developers.
The new development will comprise of a five storey 12 one bedroom flats for rent, and all will be accessible by lift and stairs, under the auspices of Cunninghame Housing Association.

The scheme also includes a ground floor commercial space with a national chain being sought, the ‘News’ understands.. Construction completion is scheduled for May 2018.
And the news of the loss of the seafront pub, which has been a popular drinking and meeting place over the years, resulted in many comments of people who miss the live music venue, and the highly popular ‘vodka bar’ upstairs.
Ian Rutherford said: “Vicky’s no more but a place of so many memories of my younger days and seeing Colin Hay (Men At Work), Baz Warne (The Stranglers) and Dave Sharp (The Alarm) play live acoustic shows.”
Lorraine Copeland Ewing said: “I worked there years ago, when The Spences had it. It has many great memories and there were always a lot of laughs.”
Karolyn Gracie recalled: “Only in the Vic could you get half pint of snakebite and black currant for 77p!”
Laura Adams added: “Yes, and go out with a £5 and come back with change. Such a shame. ....great memories!”
And the Vic even sparked wedding bells. Claire McGrath said: “I used to go there at a lot and I met my husband there 20 odd years ago!”
And Gwyneth Trushell said “It is a place with great memories and were great friendships were made; I loved the vodka bar.”
Carol Holland said: “I walked past it yesterday and though the exact same thing! End of an era.”
Big names were attracted to the seafront bar when it became a live music venue in its final years, including Spencer Davis of ‘Keep on Running’ fame, and rock guitarist Chantel McGregor.
Early references to the hotel go back as far as 1928 when the seafront car park officially opened.
