Scottish Water is advising some customers in parts of Largs that their normal water supplies might be affected following a burst water main.

There was a burst on a 15 inch water main in the Holehouse Court area of Largs shortly after 8am today.

The burst might cause some temporary loss of normal water supply, low water pressure or discoloured water to some properties in the area.

It is believed that supplies to about 100 properties, mainly on higher ground in Largs, have been affected.

Scottish Water engineers are on site working to maintain normal water supplies, restore supplies to any affected properties and repair the burst main as quickly as possible.

Excavations for the repair work are close to one property in Holehouse Court and in the garden of another and the occupants have required to be relocated.

Scottish Water has offered assistance to one household and North Ayrshire Council has made arrangements with the other.

Two properties in nearby Holehouse Road were affected by water damage following the burst main and also require to be relocated.

One household has made alternative arrangements and Scottish Water is trying to assist the other.

Any issues related to damage to property will be dealt with by Scottish Water, which has loss adjustors and claims advisors on site to assist affected customers.

Scottish Water apologises for the inconvenience to customers affected directly by the burst and to those whose water supplies might be affected and thanks them for their patience and understanding.

Any damage to the road or pavement caused by the burst will be repaired.
