A local roads campaigner hit out at the debris from the recent bus fire on the A760 not being cleared up nearly a month afterwards.
Archie Burleigh, of The Meigle, fired off letters to North Ayrshire Council and McGill’s buses, who owned the coach which went on fire on Saturday August 12, as to why the burnt out mess had not been disposed of, labelling it ‘a fiasco’.
In his email on September 7, Archie said: “There is no sign of removal of bus debris. Is it not McGills who should be doing this? Also there are deep pools at Fechan dip and Blair Park entrance. Both on east side of road due to blocked roadside culverts.”
Mr Burleigh was subsequently advised by the council that the remains of the burnt out bus was on private property at the wind farm entrance, and the management company RES were again contacted and asked to arrange the clear up, which finally took place last Wednesday, see picture.
With regards to the blocked culverts, NAC Roads told Mr Burleigh that the council will have these inspected and have works programmed as necessary to have them cleared.
