A 13-year-old boy was left with a serious eye injury after an assault in Largs at the weekend

Detectives are continuing enquiries after the boy was assaulted in Largs on Friday September 22.

He was with friends on Greenock Road, near Brooksby House, around 7.30pm when he was reportedly chased by a group of four older youths.

Police said that one of them assaulted the young boy, before the group ran off in the direction of the Vikingar.

The injured boy was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he received treatment for a serious eye injury. 

He is expected to require further medical attention for his injury.

The youth responsible is described as around 17 years of age, with short blonde hair and a longer fringe.  He was wearing a red top.

Detective Constable George Robertson of Saltcoats Police Office said: “The investigation is continuing into this assault, with officers studying CCTV and carrying out enquiries in the local area to trace the person responsible.

“I would urge anyoe who witnessed this incident, or who has information that may assist our enquiry to contact Saltcoats Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 2216 of 23rd September.”
