As part of Transport Scotland’s trunk road maintenance programme, Scotland Transerv will carry out overnight resurfacing of the A78 from Loch Thom Road to Bankfoot Roundabout.

The £187k project will be carried out from 8pm to 6am each night from Monday 9th until Tuesday 17th October (9 nights). The overnight works will see the resurfacing of around 750metres of the southbound carriageway between Greenock and Inverkip.

Rajan Singh, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Engineer said:

“Working with Police Scotland, local authorities and key stakeholders, this resurfacing programme has been specifically scheduled to minimise disruption to local communities and businesses. The road surface improvement scheme will address issues with potholes and structural cracking.”

In order to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible it will be necessary to close the A78 each night. The diversion route will therefore include:

Southbound traffic diverting off the A8 along Dalrymple Road

Follow the A770 to Bankfoot Roundabout

Rejoin the A78 at Bankfoot Roundabout
