Largs will get a new post office in plenty of time for the busy festive season.
As we reported last week, the Spar shop on Holehouse Road will have post office facilities followin a recent refurbishment.
The premises were closed for five days last week, before re-opening on Friday evening, and will be adding post office services within the general store later this month.
A spokesman for the Post Office said: “As part of an exciting modernisation and investment programme taking place across the Post Office network, a brand new Post Office will open at C.J. Lang & Son Limited, 25 Holehouse Road, Largs, at 1pm on Monday 20 November.
“The new branch will offer customers a wide range of Post Office services, from posting letters and parcels to collecting and returning online shopping items. Customers will also be able to take advantage of a wide range of banking services including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries for customers of all the main UK banks.”
The new Post Office services will be available 7:30am to 9:30pm, Monday – Saturday and 7:30am to 9:30pm on Sunday amounting to 97 hours of Post Office service every week, making it easier for customers to visit at a time which is most convenient to them.
The new Holehouse Road branch aims to offer even more convenience to Post Office customers by extending the availability of Post Offices services in the area. The new branch joins Largs Post Office in bringing vital services to the local community.
Wendy Grant, Post Office Network Operations Manager said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best.”
She added: “We know how important our services are to customers, and are confident that this brand new Post Office alongside our Largs branch, will ensure that people in the community have easy access to our services.”
We recently reported that the owners of the town centre post office have made an application to North Ayrshire Council to move from the Main Street to the former SNP shop in Gallowgate Lane, in an operation which would double up the premises as a cafe.
The Gallowgate site has been a restaurant twice in the past, and has also served as the SNP shop, and a clothes shop.
