P1 have been discussing Honesty and Fairness. They have been writing ‘Under the Sea’ stories, listening to non-fiction texts and recalling simple facts about sea creatures, eg. seahorse/shark. They have been setting/recording times on analogue and digital clocks.

P2 have had lots of fun creating symmetrical butterflies with paint and have enjoyed he opportunity to draw in Maths. They have also begun looking at their new topic ‘Ancient Egypt’ and created their own names using hieroglyphics.

P3 have enjoyed investigating the effect and friction of the movement of toy cars down a ramp. They have also been getting creative, preparing some fabulous riddles for the Young Writers competition. In Maths, children have been learning about dividing by 2.

P4 are looking forward to starting work with their new teacher. We have been having fun with Winter Art making trees and snowflakes. The weather has provided great inspiration.

P5/4 are busy preparing their Burns poems for the Poetry competition next month. P4 have started their sacramental preparation for Confirmation. Fr. Eamonn will be visiting each week to help us prepare. We finished our Winter Trees in Art. We think we have done a great job of them!

P6 have been learning interesting facts about Rainforests using their mapping skills to locate them near the equator. They have also been learning about the different types of energy and preparing to write a report about their learning.

P7 have been learning about racism and how to challenge it. They are creating their own ideas to put forward for a competition to raise awareness or stamp out racism.

All classes are participating in a session of rugby this week.

A final Mass will take place in St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church on Wednesday 7 February @ 7 pm to celebrate St. Mary’s Primary before we move to the new school campus. All welcome !
