For a nostalgic look back to model railways, why not visit the annual Kilmarnock and District Model Railway Exhibition.
The event is taking place at the Scottish Maritime Museum on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 February, with admission prices covering entrance to both the Exhibition and the Museum.
The 2018 Model Railway Exhibition has moved to the Linthouse Building of the Scottish Maritime Museum.
Their main exhibition layout has four continuous circuits for maximum movement, and many of the buildings on the layout are based on existing buildings in Irvine and were donated by the family of the late Alexander Campbell, with Blue diesels and rolling stock indicative of stock running in the late 1960’s and 70’s on British Rail.
Scottish modellers will come along to demonstrate building skills using kits or scratch built modifications to produce “out of the ordinary” models
Model Electronic Railway Group (MERG), concerned with the application of electronics to Model Railways, design and build control systems, and will also be there. They will use servo motors to move points and to animate scenic effects.
