The DA Hall in Millport, which is well used by a number of community groups, is to close for three weeks after the council found asbestos in the building.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “As part of our ongoing inspection programme of Council buildings, asbestos was discovered in the loft space in the DA Hall.
“The facility will be closed for three weeks from April 16 to allow the asbestos to be removed safely.
“We have informed all community groups of the closure and will help them source alternative venues if required.”
It follows the closure of the Millport Town Hall, which the 'News' reported last week, is going to be put up for sale, or possibly a purchase through a 'community asset transfer'.
