Largs Youth Theatre announce the departure of tutors Ryan Moir and Colleen Garrett.

Ryan was a pupil in our first-ever secondary class in 2002, then assisting in classes from 2004. In 2008, whilst studying music and drama at University, he was invited to take on a full staffing position with us and his remained in that role since.

Ryan said “I’d like to thank the thousands of people over the years who have made my time here so special. All the parents, our hardworking board and committee, all the wonderful staff over the years, and most importantly our students - who make it all worthwhile. The youth talent in the town now is the strongest it’s ever been - which is a good sign for the future. We are all so proud,”

Colleen is another former pupil of LYT, having attended classes in secondary school. After completing her drama training in Edinburgh, she was invited to take up a position as a Drama Tutor with LYT in 2015.

Colleen said “We’ve had great times at LYT and helped produced some fun work. Highlights for me have to be our young people performing “Joseph”, they were fantastic! This year too, the students achieved outstanding Trinity College Exam results. The talent, enthusiasm and energy of every participant is what we all love”.

Colleen will work with LYT on-and-off until November, as she embarks on the path of a new education degree and part-time work in other theatres. Ryan will also work with LYT until November, departing to focus on his touring company and theatre school work.

The board of Largs Youth Theatre Ltd will announce the new staffing team this autumn.
