Residents are being invited to view proposals for new council housing for older people in Largs.
North Ayrshire Council has opened consultation on its newest planned developments which include a new sheltered housing complex at St Colms Place, Largs.
The developments form part of the council’s vision to deliver more than 1000 new properties by 2023 – one of the most ambitious council house building programmes in the UK.
Local people can view and comment on the draft plans by attending the event at Largs Campus, Alexander Avenue, on Wednesday, 26 September, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.
Following the consultation events, the proposals will be available to view online at www.northayrshire.community/consultations/open-consultations where residents will also be able to add their comments.
Cabinet member for Place, Councillor Jim Montgomerie, said: “We’re well on track to build more than 1000 new Council houses by 2023.
“Having already completed a number of developments and with others currently underway, we are not standing still – we are determined to deliver modern, energy-efficient homes that meet the needs of our residents.
“We are changing people’s lives for the better and transforming communities in every part of North Ayrshire.”
Following the consultation event, the proposal will be available to view online at www.northayrshire.community/consultations/open-consultations where residents will also be able to add their comments.
A new sheltered housing development is currently being built in the grounds of Largs Academy to open by 2021.
Changes are also set to take place to St Colm's Place, in School St/Boyd St in Largs, pictured here, which is also set to be re-developed, with residents set to be transferred to the new site while the re-development is taking place.
North Ayrshire Council confirmed to the 'News' that the neighbouring police station, which looks set to move to Brooksby in the coming years, do not form part of the current project.
