The experience of exploring your thoughts and feelings with another person can relieve your sense that you are entirely alone with your problems.
Managing anxiety and stress is now such a massive issue in today's fast moving environment, and two counsellors from Largs, who have existing private practices, have joined forces to help.
Charlotte Crawford of Think it Through Therapy and Marianne Cain of Safe Haven Counselling now share a private, calm and relaxing therapy room in Stanlane Place, Largs.
They offer services which complement each other.
Marianne is a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and uses the person-centred approach, based on the belief that the relationship between counsellor and client is of the utmost importance, offering a safe, non-judgemental style that person-centred counsellors are trained to offer.
The main aim is to help the client feel safe enough to begin this journey whilst being supported by the therapist.
Relationship counselling helps people improve their relationships. Marianne can help couples to work through their problems, explore the effects of past relationships or look at how to improve and enrich the relationship. Improving communications is usually very important.
She works with all relationship difficulties whether a couple or on your own, regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity. What’s important is the relationship.
Marianne works with adults of all ages, from age 16 and has a special interest in Relationship Counselling with couples.
Marianne said: "Greater self-knowledge and understanding can enhance your relationships with yourself and others and improve your sense of choices and self-esteem.
"Techniques can be given to help cope with stress, anxiety and depression.
"The benefits of being able to work through your problems, and having an independent person to talk through it, can be massively therapeutic."
