THE team at a Largs opticians have saved the sight of a customer who was in danger of instantly going blind – thanks to a scan.
Laura McAlpine and the staff at Opticare in Aitken Street were examining the lady using their state-of-the-art laser scanning system and detected a pocket of liquid behind her eye.
The condition, which was only traceable through the use of the high-tech machine, could have caused the customer to lose her sight instantly.

The local pensioner was sent straight to hospital and received injections to stop it from bursting.
Laura said:
“For a  appointment for a check-up with Opticare, you could save your sight.
Rachael Merrilees, the branch’s lens specialist, added: “The patient was so grateful and she said she would recommend the scan to everyone, specially elderly people.”
