From October to April North Ayrshire's fleet of gritting vehicles with snow ploughs are on 24 hour standby.
Council staff constantly monitor weather forecast information.
When snow and ice is forecast, they operate a priority system to ensure the most important and busiest routes are treated first, and aim to treat as many roads and footpaths as possible.
Cameras are located on the A760, as part of the roadside weather station. Live images are updated every 15 minutes via www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/roadcams.aspx
Residents can obtain small quantities of rock salt for use on their own path, steps, driveway, from the following: Keppel Pier, Millport; Cleansing Depot, Alexander Avenue, Largs; Toward View, opposite Fire Station, Skelmorlie; Car Park, Pier Rd, Fairlie; and West Kilbride Community Centre.
