AN award winning Largs Formula One enthusiast is hitting top gear as he prepares to get behind the wheel in a major championship.

Glenn Alcock, 39 says he is looking forward to getting behind the wheel at the national circuit at Knockhill next summer and described it as a 'dream come true'.

Glenn holds a National 'B' Racing Licence and has previously driven a Formula 1 and Formula 3 cars.

He said: "It is looking pretty certain I will be racing in one championship and potentially guest appearing in something else.

"Knockhill are keen to have me involved too, so things are moving in the right direction."

Off the track, Glenn recently received a special award for his SuperfastScots digital platform to promote young racing drivers around the country.

SuperfastScots has been recognised by the Scottish Motor Racing Club for helping promote the sport.

Glenn rubbed shoulders with some of the top racing drivers in Scotland at the prestigious event, held in Edinburgh.

He said: "It is an award given to somebody who put a lot of time and effort into supporting motor sport in Scotland for the sheer passion of it

"It is nice to have the recognition for SuperfastScots.

"It is a big deal to receive this from the Scottish Motor Racing Club and they seem quite keen for me to work alongside them.

"Getting the award was a great honour and I hope to continue supporting Scottish motorsport."

Glenn set up ‘SuperfastScots’ on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to profile the talented young Scottish racing drivers coming through the ranks and support charities such as The Jim Clark Trust and Disability Motorsport Scotland.

His interest in motor racing stemmed from his grandfather, George Jackson, who lived in Largs, but passed away when Glenn was only seven.

Glenn said: “I have always had a passion for motor sport, and things just escalated from there."
