Residents are being reminded to check their bin collection arrangements for the festive period.

That’s because the Christmas and New Year bank holidays will bring changes to some bin collection days across the area.

However, only those households whose bin collections normally fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday will be affected as these will be brought forward a few days and carried out on Saturday and Sunday. For all other households, bin collections will remain on their usual day.

The revised timetable for mainland and Cumbrae is as follows (Usual Collection Date/Revised Collection Date): Tuesday 25 December 2018 Saturday 22 December 2018; Wednesday 26 December 2018 Sunday 23 December 2018; Tuesday 1 January 2019 Saturday 29 December 2018; Wednesday 2 January 2019 Sunday 30 December 2018

The Household Waste Recycling Centre at Largs will be closed on 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January.

Residents are reminded that they don’t have to worry about transporting their real Christmas tree to a recycling centre, simply place it at the kerbside beside the brown bin in January and it will be uplifted – check the online collection calendar for specific dates: www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/mybinday

Councillor Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for Place, said: “ “We strongly advise all residents affected by these temporary measures to make a note of the changes and have their bins out for collection by 7am on their revised collection date.”
