A man in his early 60s avoided collision with a car in Largs Main Street on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened just after 3.50pm and involved a Renault car.

Rumours had surfaced on social media that an individual had been knocked down, and people were asking about his condition after spotting an ambulance at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We were notified of a collision involving a male pedestrian and a Renault car.

"The police attended as did the ambulance.

"However, the male was uninjured, and there was no criminality established.

"The gentleman concerned was not knocked down and sustained no injuries."

Chief Inspector Colin Convery added: "The incident is not as it first appears. He is registered blind, and stepped out in front of car which avoided collision."

The incident happened near M&Co store.
