Kosmos Ensemble will bring their colourful and vibrant music to the village hall in West Kilbride on Friday 18 January.

The concert will begin at 7.30pm, with doors from 7pm.

Margaret McCrorie, chair of Music in West Kilbride said: ‘We are delighted to be able to welcome such an internationally renowned group to the village.

‘We love their music and for a long time have been hoping to bring them here as they offer just the mix of classical and other genres that we know our audience enjoys, and which is not available outside of the main cities.’

‘This concert is our first in 2019 in which we have sought to profile younger musicians. In February we welcome the Magnard Wind Ensemble, in March the scots duo of Alison McNeil (vocal) and Sasha Savaloni (guitar), and in April the Kentigern Quartet with Feargus Hetherington (violin). Kosmos will set a high standard for the others.’

Kosmos Ensemble, consists of Harriet Mackenzie (violin), Meg Hamilton (viola) and Miloš Milivojevic (accordion).

They will present a programme of Wild Gypsy fiddling, emotive Jewish (Klezmer) and Greek music which will glide seamlessly into hot-blooded tango, alongside interpretations of Japanese, Polish and Sephardic songs, and with references to classical composers including Bach, Brahms and Sarasate.

Tickets for the concert can be obtained via the website, whilst any left will be available on the door on the night, Friday 16th November.

Members of music in West Kilbride are admitted free of charge, as is anyone under 16.
