The Millport to the Moon Challenge is now nearly 75% of the way there.

Millport inhabitants and visitors to the Isle of Cumbrae have been adding their distance travelled either on foot or by bike to the impressive target of reaching the Moon in 2019.

Started in March of 2018 with the aim of encouraging people to become more fit it has proved popular with all ages and fitness levels.

Working in association with the World Walking website, participants can choose from over 200 virtual walks and see their progress logged against a chosen route, gaining a certificate of achievement on completion. Walks range in scale from a walk around Dresden at just 2,477 steps (just over one mile) to Around the Globe at over 80 million steps (c34 thousand miles). There are many interesting walks in the UK and an Isle of Cumbrae walk has just been added along with a detailed route map of the island and this makes an ideal start for new participants.
