The mystery behind an old Fairlie photo which has found its way to Canada has been solved.
Iain MacLeod, who stays in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, sent the photo to the 'News' after it was found in his grandfather's collection of old pictures.
He said: "This image is the front panel of a postcard from August 1930
"The fellow in the photo is Knox, who had the jetty at the foot of the Causeway in Fairlie.
"He used to hire out boats and also ferry people to and from larger yachts.
"The rock in the water just beyond the high water mark is called Knox's Rock."
Iain would like to thank former Fairlie man Tim Ryrie for filling him in with the background information about the photo.
