Flood warnings have been issued for Largs and Millport as a result of Storm Erik which expected to bring 60mph gusts.

A combination of high tides and prevailing weather conditions means that flooding from wave overtopping and spray is expected to affect low lying coastal areas and roads.

Flooding impacts are expected around the time of high tide on Friday 8 February at approximately 2pm.

A SEPA spokesman said: "Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.  Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188.  

"This FLOOD WARNING is now in force until further notice and was sent by phone and sms free of charge to registered customers of our Floodline direct warning service.

Due to weather conditions there is heightened possibility of disruption or cancellation of the Cumbrae-Largs ferry at short notice.
