A LARGS road is to be partly closed for SEVEN MONTHS for water works as part of a £2.2million investment project.

Work in and around Anthony Road is due to start on February 18 at the junction with Warrenpark Road to house number four - and will be closed to traffic until March 15.

Following this phase the road will re-open and Warren Park Road will close for approximately six months.

Warren Park Road, from the May Street Junction to the Anthony Road junction, will be closed from 8am on March 11 until September 27.

A diversion route will be in place for residents during this time.

There will also be waiting and loading restrictions on May Street during the works.

The site compound is to be located in the grassed area of May Street which will be reinstated upon the completion of the project.

The works are part of a wider environmental project to help improve bathing water quality in the area.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: "Further to the investigation work carried out in November 2017, our alliance partner Amey Black and Veatch will be carrying out upgrades to our infrastructure in Largs to help protect and enhance the environment of the Firth of Clyde.

"Work is anticipated to begin on Warren Park Road this week and will last for approximately seven months.

"We will do all we can to minimise disruption for road users and local residents and would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding during these works"
