"Give me shelter!" is the plea of a local independent councillor in Largs,

Independent member Ian Murdoch is wanting to see changes to two town centre bus shelters due to exposure of the elements and congestion issues.

He believes the Gallowgate Square shelter is too exposed due to east winds, and as reported recently, wants the Main Street bus shelter to move further up the bus stopping area in a bid to eliminate congestion.

Community councillor Andy Adair had also raised concerns regarding the bus shelter situation in Largs during a recent meeting at Largs Library.

The shelter at Gallowgate Square was only recently changed and with a big opening front area is much more open to the elements.

Speaking at a recent Largs Community Council meeting. Cllr. Murdoch said: "The bus shelter at Gallowgate Square also needs changing. It is predominantly a south to southwest wind and it is not fit for purpose.

"I have contacted the relevant department in order to try and get both matters looked into.

"The bus shelter in Largs Main Street is currently in the middle of the bus stopping area. It needs to be moved to the head of the stop in order to operate correctly.

"There are that many cars parked in that area of the street that buses can't get in."

With McGills, Stagecoach and Largs local buses, sometimes the area can become congested with buses alone, it was pointed out, so more needs to be done to provide better access, it was pointed out at the meeting.
