ALMOST 100 people braved torrential rain, a bitterly cold wind and some difficulty in parking to support the recent RNLI Soup on Saturday.
As they dried out, they were welcomed with a bowl of warming soup which they said was very welcoming and tasty, and other goodies from the menu.
Fundraising spokeswoman Cathy Holgate said: "It is said to be the busiest of the annual RNLI events with much planning beforehand, and the hardest working for several hours on the day with a number of items on the menu to be served individually.
"So the committee want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved—the individual organisers, the helpers in the hall and kitchen and those who manned the various stalls and the tombola.
"A thank you also to the Willowbank Hotel and Nardini’s who donated the soup, Morrison’s who donated the rolls and those who made and donated cakes, as well as those who gave prizes for the tombola.
Cathy added: “We are so fortunate to have such great supporters who turn out in all weathers and local businesses who donate so generously.
"That’s what makes it successful and so worthwhile, especially when we learn that it raised around £950."
