A CHANCE meeting in an American airport was a 'Bolt' from the blue for a starstruck Largs man.

Former Largs Thistle player Gordon Dunlop,36, bumped into the world's fastest man in Miami - and ended up watching a live football match with him on TV.

The 36-year-old traveller was amazed to see the 100m record holder sat in the departure lounge watching the Manchester United versus Paris Saint Germain match.

Gordon explained: "I couldn't believe it when I saw the man himself.

"I was in transit at Miami and was watching the Man Utd v PSG match and he was watching it too, just sitting himself minding his own business.

"I went over and introduced myself and we took in some of the game, exchanged a bit of football chat and he happily posed for a selfie.

"We were just chatting about the game really.

"I did suggest he should give manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær a call as Man Utd were certainly lacking a bit of pace up front."

Bolt is a massive football fan and featured for Australian side Central Coast Mariners in a failed bid to become a soccer star himself, scoring on his debut.

However, the world famous sportsman gave up on his football dream at the turn of the year after saying his sporting career was at and end.

Gordon added: "He had a skip cap on and no one really recognised him, which meant he wasn't really being pestered. He was really friendly and a top guy."

Gordon has featured in the News before thanks to his sporting family ties.

He featured for Largs Thistle in 2002 and came up against his brother Robin, who was in goal for the opposition when Largs Thistle faced Whitletts Vics in 2001.

Gordon is a former St Mary's Primary and St Andrew's Academy pupil. He went on to study at Strathclyde University and also in Milan.

In recent years, Gordon took part in a marathon charity cycle from Anchorage, Alaska, through the United States and on the long road south to Ushuaia, Argentina, raising funds for Mary's Meals.

He told the News: "I've done lots of exciting things, but meeting Usain Bolt is certainly one of the highlights of my international travels to date!".
