A public consultation on the future industrial masterplan for Hunterston Port and Resource Centre is taking place in June.

Hunterston was, for many years, used for the bulk import of coal. The site has lain dormant since its closure in 2016, which resulted in the loss of 120 jobs.

Since then, Peel Ports Group has been working with public and private sector partners across the region to define viable and productive future for the site, one which will attract substantial investment, deliver sustainable economic growth and support major job creation in North Ayrshire and across Scotland.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "As with any significant industrial development, it is important that local residents fully understand the economic, infrastructure and environmental aspects of our plans."

The consultation takes place on 4-6 June at Fairlie Village Hall, and Garrison House in Millport on 6 June.
