Kames Bay in Millport was 'flooded' with students during a beach observation event on a morning last week.
Pupils from the marine biology and environmental science at the University of Hull school of environmental science were carrying out the exercise while visiting the Field Studies Centre.
Polychaete or bristle worms were among the species investigated on the shoreline.
