JUST over 70 people spent an enjoyable evening recently cheering on their horses in the Masonic Hall - courtesy of Largs Rotary Club and Largs Early Years Centre.

The centre made an appeal to Largs Rotary for a donation to help them towards the purchase of waterproof suits to allow the children to engage in outdoor activities regardless of the weather.

The suits afford total protection from the elements and enable the tots to acquire outdoor skills which will serve them well in the future.

Members of Largs Rotary visited the centre and were impressed both by what was on offer and by the enthusiasm and commitment of the staff, so decided to stage a race night to help fundraise.

Members hosted the night and the centre staff worked hard to gather support from parents for the evening.

As a result Largs Rotary was able to present the Early Years Centre with a cheque for £1,700 - enough to purchase the all-weather suits.

A spokeperson said: "Thanks go to the Masons for use of the premises and to Rosemary Gray and Andy Gough for providing the catering free of charge."

Largs Rotary Club is always eager to welcome new members.
