MILLPORT'S Country Music festival is set to be simply 'devine' this year with a living legend announced among the headline acts.

Scottish star Sydney Devine has been revealed as one of the chart-topping performers as the event celebrates its 25th anniversary.

He joins American Young and Lockeland from Nashville as the festival gears up for its biggest ever year.

It will run from Friday August 30 to September 1 and will see Millport transformed into Nashville for the weekend.

Festival director Gavin Chittock said: "Around 50 artists will appear, representing some of the best country music talent from Scotland, across the UK, Ireland and the USA.

"From traditional to modern, from Americana to country rock, just about every country taste will be catered for.

"A festival wristband will offer access to all four music stages with early bird ticket prices held at last year’s levels."

This is only the first round of acts to be announced, with more to come in the following weeks.

The festival has teamed up with the Waverly to offer and exclusive Country Music Festival Cruise to transport Glasgow crowds to the event.

Gavin added: "The Waverley has timetabled a Millport Country Music Festival Cruise on 1 September this year, leaving Glasgow in the morning, stopping at Greenock and arriving at Keppel Pier in Millport for the festival. It will then return back to Greenock and Glasgow early evening.

"Glamping and camping, with showers and toilets, will be available within an easy walk of the festival site.

"The famous Grand Parade will again run on Saturday at 2pm."

Alongside many music and other entertainment, the emerging talent showcase will return on the Sunday to provide up and coming talent with the opportunity to perform on a festival stage.

Calmac will run an extended service on Friday 30 August, the last ferry will be at 10.30pm leaving Cumbrae Slip, on Saturday 31st, Calmac will operate an extended service and patrons must be at Cumbrae Slip no later than 10.30pm if they wish to travel back to the mainland.

On 1 September, the last ferry will be at 8.30pm from Cumbrae slip.
