Largs police station building looks set to be put up for sale - while the long awaited move to Brooksby looks set to go ahead later this year.

Inspector Colin Convery of Largs Police provided a short verbal report on the relocation of Largs Police Office during a recent council meeting held at Largs Campus.

Addressing local councillors at the North Coast Locality Partnership, Inspector Convery stated that it is possible that there might be an event to allow members of the public to view the current premises prior to them being marketed.

The Victorian sandstone building was built in School Street during the 1870s.

However, the station is now believed to be not fit for purpose, with the police expected to be moving to Brooksby to be close to other local agencies including North Ayrshire Social Work and housing offices.

Inspector Convery said: "As for a date for the move, I await Legal/Property Services tidying small aspects up.

"I am certainly working towards this summer - the works required should be relatively quick at the Brooksby Centre."
