THE Largs and Millport News will be going for glory this evening at the Scottish Press Awards.
The Wee Paper has been named as a finalist in the Scottish Weekly Newspaper of the Year category, going up against titles like the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser, Fife Free Press and Ayrshire Post.
Editor Brian Hossack said: “We are delighted that the new-look paper has been so well received by our readers and has won praise from our peers in this way.
“We are hopeful of doing well, but just to be named among the top five weekly titles in Scotland is a fantastic achievement, especially against bigger papers with much larger staff and bigger budgets than ours.
“Praise goes to our reporting team, Calum Corral and Julie McLaughlin, for some bringing in some fantastic stories during the last 12 months, highlighting important local issues and continuing to champion the cause of our readers.”
The ceremony takes place at Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow from 7pm.
