Boat users are advised to navigate with caution south of Largs to Fairlie over the coming days during the construction of a new sea outfall.

Mariners are advised that works to install the new outfall pipe are scheduled from 8 to 10 May.

The pipe is 200m long and will be launched from Fairlie Quay before being towed into position at Largs.

During this phase of the works, three workboats and a barge will be employed to manoeuvre the pipe into position.

All vessels will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channels 12 and 16.

Once the new pipe has been positioned, divers will be onsite until approximately 17 May installing the marker post and various other underwater tasks.

During diving operations all appropriate shapes and lights will be displayed as prescribed by International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea (Colregs).

Mariners should navigate with caution when transiting this area, passing well clear of the works and moderating speed to reduce the effect of wash.
