It was a case of 'Rise and Shine' for the Largs Rotary fun run which had a new location this year.

For the first time in its 35 year history, the event had moved from Barrfields Park to Largs Prom.

Running along the prom is proving to be more and more popular, and the Rotary were hoping to make some capital on this, as they were raising funds for The Beatson in Glasgow.

"Those who turned up enjoyed it," said organiser Ron Muir, "It was brilliant sunshine and all for a good cause.

"The course started at Magnus the status and along to Aubery and then back towards Mackerston and round the putting green before returning to Magnus for the finish.

"It was good that all ages were taking part.

"We didn't make as much money as we had hoped to raise but it is a learning curve, and we think by keeping it on the prom, it is easier for us to organise.

"Next time we will be looking at providing a set distance so as to attract more of the serious runners."
