A celebration of the great outdoors and living life on a farm promises to be a great day out for all the family.

The Largs Farmers Show is one of the oldest traditional events in the area dating back over 150 years, and proudly continues to this day at Ardgowan Polices in Inverkip, courtesy of Sir Ludovic Shaw Stewart.

It all takes place on Saturday 8 June and will have the usual selection of livestock, vintage tractors, and lots of activities for children including bouncy castle and races on the day.

There will be cows, sheep, horses, highland ponies and dogs on display and the committee are hoping for some sunshine to bring in the crowds. Who will carry off the prestigious title of Champion of Champions on the day?

These events are of course a fantastic community effort where everyone gets involved and play their part.

The Scouts, led by Gordon McCready will this year again assist with the erecting of the marquees and tents.

Thanks go to Fiona Neilson who has set up the new look website. Please have a look at www.largsshow.co.uk/

There will be a light horse section with a variety of classes. If you require a schedule please visit the website or for further information please contact Sandra Sutherland, 29a Ardgowan St, Greenock: Tel: 01475 792910 or email sandrasutherland@virginmedia.com.

The committee are as ever very grateful to the sponsor group without whose assistance the show would simply not survive.

In common with similar sized events it runs at a loss and sponsor donations plus subsidy from the society's other events are the only way that the books can be balanced.

This year there will be a display of vintage driven tractors.

The ever-popular dog show is held under the auspices of the Scottish Kennel Club as a companion show.

There will be children’s entertainment, bouncy castle and races etc as well as a cake and candy stall, hamper raffle and gift stall.

As always, the show is a great day out for anyone with an interest in the countryside or indeed anyone who enjoys a family day in the great outdoors.

Schedules for agricultural classes and light horse section are also available from Sandra Sutherland, 29a Ardgowan St, Greenock: Tel: 01475 792910 or email sandrasutherland@virginmedia.com or by visiting the website http://www.largsshow.co.uk/
