It is the return of a familiar face as President of the Largs Rotary.

During the weekly lunch at the Willowbank Hotel, Roy was installed as Club President, following a successful year in the chair by out-going President Peter Greenhalgh.

No stranger to the top table, Roy held the same position 10 years ago, and is well versed in all things Rotary, not only at local level but also in his position as District Treasurer; a position which involves much of his expertise and energy to help boost the profile of the philanthropic work that the Rotary does to help others.

The recent Strawberry Tea, was a typical example of the club at work in the community and with the help of the public and visitors, over £500 was raised to benefit various good causes at home and abroad.

In 2015, Roy was presented with a Paul Harris Award, a very prestigious award in Rotary circles.

He was instrumental in organising big dinner fundraisers for two well deserving charities, and in his 'free' time helpw with running patients to hospital for treatment, as and when required.

Roy was also involved with the 'Message in a Bottle' scheme launched for anyone living alone which involved the completion of an information sheet which is placed in a small plastic bottle in the door of the fridge.

A “green cross” sticker is then attached adjacent to entry door and to the outside of the fridge - this immediately alerts emergency services to the existence of information.
